Good Neighbor Day History
The holiday was started in 1994 by FTD Member Brook Jacobs in Jackson, MS. Jacobs conducted the goodwill outreach in his community as a way to increase joy and promote kindness in his community. After the success of the first outreach, Jacobs, a longtime FTD florist, asked FTD to share the idea with more than 20,000 fellow FTD florists across the U.S. and Canada, in order to increase joy around North America. Now, 10 years later, thousands of FTD florists share the gift of flowers with customers and encourage the recipients to keep the positive energy flowering throughout their community. FTD
Good Neighbor Day Today
Florists across North America spread goodwill and friendship in their communities by giving away millions of free roses by the dozens. Florists encourage each recipient to keep one of the flowers for themselves and share the others with friends and neighbors in the community... continuing to spread the joy!
